As the wife of an active duty soldier, the granddaughter of a WWII veteran, and the niece of two War on Terror veterans, Veteran’s Day isn’t just a day for BBQ and friends to me. It’s a reminder that these things come at a cost–in lives and blood, yes, but also mental health, children’s milestones missed, time with loved ones lost, and more.

To all those who have served and are now serving, both soldiers and your families, thank you for your service and your sacrifice.
