This past Saturday, I was invited to join a mobile bookstore at the Flint Hills Festival in Manhattan, KS.

Everyone was wonderful and welcoming to us! I’ve never done an in-person event before, and I’ll admit, I was skeptical that I’d be able to sell any books whatsoever. But people loved the premise of the book and were not deterred by its size!

First time signing a book for a customer!

This has given me a lot more confidence in myself and my books, and I’m excited to attend more festivals this summer.

Before I met Kaitlynn, the owner of this mobile bookstore, I’d never heard of book trucks. My area has a serious lack of bookstores, though, both big box and indie, so I think this is a wonderful solution to bring books closer to people. There’s just something about holding a book in your hands and smelling the fresh paper that you can’t get from online bookstores. Not to mention, Kaitlynn is a wonderful person!

If you happen to see her at a festival or Renaissance fair, stop by and say hi!

Also, the Mercury newspaper in Manhattan interviewed her! If you flip through the photos they took, there’s a picture of me too. I’m in the news! Check it out:
