Realm War Chronicles Reading Order

The Realm War Chronicles take place in a universe called Yggdrasil, which has nine realms named after the Nine Realms of Norse mythology.

Muspelheim

My first trilogy takes place on Muspelheim. It will be the precursor to all the other stories that I write in this universe.

Muspell’s Sons

Book 1 of the Muspelheim trilogy. An epic tale of demons, magic, and the desert…

Cadmus Brand lives on Muspelheim, a desert realm that has been purged of almost all magic. Only the powerful kashmari lords who dominate the city-states can wield their own twisted blood magic. Brand is a famous and wealthy man in his own right as a champion gladiator who has never lost a fight. He dines with kashmari lords and dances with kashmari ladies. The more he triumphs, the more prestige he gains. So long as he keeps winning, life is fantastic for Brand.

But Brand has a deadly secret: He is the last of an ancient group of human magic-wielders who use powerful elixirs to enhance their bodies. Discovery of his secret would mean torture and death.

Can Brand successfully navigate the glamorous world of manipulative kashmari? Can he continue to stand idly by while evil thrives around him?

Brand’s journey to find his place in the world will take him across a desert littered with magical artifacts, populated by dangerous creatures, and haunted by innumerable secrets buried in the shifting sands.

The Shackles of a Mountain Lord

Book 2 of the Muspelheim trilogy. In this sequel to Muspell’s Sons, Cadmus Brand continues his struggle against the demonic kashmari that rule the desert realm of Muspelheim. The dark kashmari High Lord Fafnir now knows exactly what Brand is–a pharmakon, an ancient order of alchemical magic-users–and intends to use Brand’s abilities for his own nefarious purposes.

While searching for clues about High Lord Fafnir’s plans and how to stop him, Brand’s adventure takes an unexpected turn that leads him to find new allies…and lose others.

Meanwhile, Brand’s friends, the crew of the sand trawler Polaris, discover the source of the unrest that has plagued Lord Fafnir for years, and seek to unleash it upon the kashmari lords.

Asgard

A realm pulsing with magic and mystery.

The Soul of a Griffin

A short story. A dying dvergr needs to consume the bones, beak, and claws of a griffin every few days to survive. To that end, he has captured a griffin named Kheer. But little did he know that this griffin is different from any other in centuries—Kheer is bound to a powerful mage. When the arrogant dvergr threatens a griffin cub, Kheer summons all of his strength to escape the dvergr’s clutches and rushes back to his mage, hoping that together they can save the griffin cub’s life. Will Kheer be able to save the griffin cub, or will his fears of the dvergr overcome him?

Alfheim

A realm destroyed by an ancient realm-destroying war, populated by dryads that live among the treetops of the jungle.

Torin Keth: Bounty Hunter

Embers

A free online short space opera sci-fi story showing how Torin Keth came to be a bounty hunter. Followed by the novellas The Wolf Who Stands Watch and Mark of the Dying Light.

The Wolf Who Stands Watch

Torin Keth is a rising bounty hunter armed with cutting-edge armor and a burning need to prove himself. His first big job? Track down a hacker hiding in the ruins of Cosil San—a crumbling city caught between exploitation, criminal syndicates, and a broken system.

It should’ve been simple. Quick in, quick out. But nothing in Cosil San is simple. Between a stardust-addicted mob enforcer with a personal grudge, a corrupt sheriff with his own agenda, and gangs ready to kill for the right price, Keth is walking blind into a situation he’s not ready for.

The deeper he goes, the more tangled it gets. Old loyalties resurface. Rules bend. Blood spills. And the job he took to build a name threatens to destroy everything he thought he believed in.

Now, Keth must decide what kind of man he wants to be: a cold-blooded hunter chasing credits—or something more dangerous. A man with a conscience.

Mark of the Dying Light

On the scorched world of Brisel, where communities are tight-knit and traditions run deep, bounty hunter Torin Keth accepts a high-stakes job: capture a notorious pirate before he disappears into the dunes or flees the system.

Partnered with a spirited local officer, Torin navigates sun-bleached streets and shifting loyalties, where ancient customs clash with offworld crime. He tracks his target through festivals tainted by clan turf wars and into the lairs of rival alien factions. Each step pulls him deeper into a world riddled with secrets.

But justice comes at a cost.

In the ruins of Brisel, Torin will learn what it means to stand alone—and why some wolves are better off without a pack.
