One of my New Year’s resolutions is to be less ashamed of my depression and to be more open about it with others in the hopes that we can all chip away at the stigma mental health issues have.

Right about the time I decided to be more open, I saw a post from the Dragonsteel team regarding a “Next Step Coin”.

It comes with a pact that you can sign, a series of oaths, if you will. It challenges you to promise to keep fighting against the darkness, to help others who are also fighting, and to keep the challenge coin as a reminder to never let the darkness win.

I immediately requested the coin and have been carrying it around since. It’s a wonderful reminder that someone cares and that there are resources for us when we are in crisis, and literally puts those resources in our hands.
